A Tisket a Gasket

On Friday morning, Mona and I recorded a Need to Know. See what you think, here. She had just returned home from Texas; I had just arrived. We spend some time singing a hymn of praise to that state. It is our Left’s, and Western Europe’s, least favorite state. All the more honor to it.

Mona serves on the board of an organization called “Wounded Warriors Family Support.” She tells us about it, and the good it does. The organization is a “point of light,” to borrow Bush 41’s language.

We then discuss a slew of issues, including the migration crisis in Europe. There’s also the matter of ISIS — ISIS and the Obama administration. Is the administration “cooking” the intelligence, to make it seem that ISIS is less a threat than it is? People deserve the truth, even if the truth is daunting or horrifying.

Mona and I also talk about the Iran deal, and the Republican party’s responsibility for it. I say (and Mona says), this is the Obama administration’s, and the Iranian dictatorship’s, deal. If the American people want a different kind of foreign policy, they can stop electing and reelecting Obama and his like. They’ll get another crack at it next year.

Who are we? Whom do we wish to be? Americans always answer that question, at the polls.

Inevitably, there’s discussion of Trump and Trumpiness. And at the end of the podcast, I blow an absolute gasket over O’s yanking of “McKinley” off the mountain in Alaska. Mona just politely lets me explode, as though McKinley/Denali were a volcano, instead of a majestic mountain.

Our show goes out with a little mountain music — or rather, the middle movement of Hovhaness’s Symphony No. 2, which is nicknamed “Mysterious Mountain.”
