Favorite American Things

Today, I recorded a Q&A podcast with four of my favorite people. Three of them, NR readers know well: Mona Charen, Kevin Williamson, and Charlie Cooke. The fourth is Scott Immergut, a Ricochet producer and lynchpin. The podcast is a special edition, a Thanksgiving edition, concerning America and its bounty.

I ask my guests to name three favorite American . . . what? Well, I have about 20 categories. Name three of your favorite American movies, foods, novels, comedians, states, accents, songs, athletes, presidents, cartoons, parks or sites, etc.

What we have here is a festival of Americanness. Check it out.

Afterward, I had a certain esprit d’escalier. My three American foods, for example, were hamburgers, macaroni and cheese, and hot-fudge sundaes. I shoulda/coulda said a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. But I wouldn’t have wanted to displace any of the other three!

Also, one of my categories should have been cars. Three favorite American cars. Maybe we can do a second edition sometime. In any case, enjoy!
