Charles Krauthammer, commenting tonight on Scott Walker dropping out of the 2016 race, said he believed the Wisconsin governor is trying to empower the anti-Trump forces.
“You rarely hear that; a candidate who bows out, says it was my calling,” Krauthammer said on Tuesday’s Special Report. “Essentially, I’ll give a translation, to get out of the race, to consolidate the anti-Trump forces.”
“He didn’t blame Trump for him dropping out,” Krauthammer noted. Instead, Walker “peaked early,” and then his Iowa-or-bust strategy went bust after “he disappeared in Iowa.”
“The beginning of the winnowing of the field started early,” Krauthammer said. ”If it’s going to happen, do it now.”
