Trump leads Hillary in the Fox poll that came out yesterday. He’s clearly gotten a bump from his nomination victory and Hillary is still in a two-front war, so we need to wait a few more weeks to get a better sense of the true state of the race. Nonetheless, it’s looking quite competitive in the early going. Some things that jumped out:
- Hillary has a worse favorable–unfavorable rating, at 37–61 to Trump’s 41–56 (down from 31–65 in March).
- Hillary has a worse rating on whether she’s honesty and trustworthy or not, at 31–66 to Trump’s 40–57 (down from 33–65).
- Clinton has a worse unfavorable among men (27–71) than Trump does among women (33–63). Also, eye-popping: Hillary’s fav–unfav among whites is 27–72 and and among independents 23–74!
- Both Hillary and Trump are a disaster on various personal attributes — has strong moral values, etc. Only one of them is above-water on one of these qualities and it’s Trump: by 59-38, people consider him a strong leader. If he’s elected president, that’s going to be the attribute that’s responsible.
