Krauthammer's Take: DNC Disunity 'Far More Serious' Than RNC

Charles Krauthammer argues that the disunity on display at the DNC is “far more serious” than what has been shown on the Republican side:

It will be the official unity move. It will be the ostensible unity move. But the problem of the last day and a half is that the convention has been backward-looking. As one of our correspondents said earlier, the presence of Sanders is hovering over the convention.

Everybody’s holding their breath on the Clinton side. What are his delegates going to do? Will there be a loud demonstration? When will the booing stop? And that I think is a huge lost opportunity.

I don’t think it has terribly long-range effects, but the opportunity of a convention is that you’ve got four days, the entire attention of the country, to make your case. And every minute that you’re not making the case for the nominee is a lost opportunity.

And people talk about the disunity among Republicans, but let’s remember the difference. The booing of the RNC in Cleveland was for someone who got up and refused to endorse the nominee. The booing that we’ve heard from the first day and a half has been for someone to endorse the nominee. That is a far more serious split.
